34 & 35 Weeks Pregnant
Your Pregnancy Week by Week

What's going on in the later stages of pregnancy development? 35 weeks pregnant is already a long way which means that you are almost hugging your baby. Doesn’t sound wonderful?

Mom, at pregnancy week 34 and 35 your baby now rests on your uterus and is no longer floating. What It means that? Room in your womb is getting insufficient for your baby so you may be suffering backaches and low back discomforts due to the heavy weight of your uterus.

At this pregnancy stage many women tend to be nervous in advance to the proximity of the birth. You should try to relax and spend more quality time with your husband. Once your baby arrives, you and your partner will be very busy dealing with all needs of your new baby, and even if you have more kids, then you will be indeed overwhelmed. So try some relaxation exercise, it will help you a lot during labor and delivery.

At 35 weeks pregnant, you should be well aware that at the time of birth, things can get difficult and your doctor may consider a Cesarean. According to the National Center for Health Statistic’s latest reports, approximately 31% of moms giving birth in the United States will have a C-section. So you have to know what to expect in these cases, especially new moms.

35 Weeks Pregnant

At 34 weeks pregnant, as my due date was approaching, I was very anxious about the birth, I think it was fear of the unknown, and my husband helped me to get relaxed. We used to go for a walk in the evenings and weekends to be relaxed in mind and body. That helped me a lot to eliminate fear and anxiety.

I remember at this stage of pregnancy my stomach was large enough to guess the gender of my baby and my family used to bet each other to guess the sex. There is a myth that somehow I believe that says if the stomach is round shape, then the sex of the baby is a boy. However, if the stomach is long and wide, then is a girl. Believe it or not, many times it is very precise.

Mom, at 35 weeks pregnant you must be also curious about what to expect during labor and delivery. Read stages of labor to get some deep info about that moment.

Mom:

At pregnancy week 35 your uterus is about 5 to 6 inches from the top of your navel.

You may notice that you have more and more contractions. This is a great sign that your body is getting ready! However be careful of having painful contractions with pressure in your vagina, vaginal bleeding and fluid leakage because you may be experiencing Preterm Labor.

Keep eating healthy food because your baby is taking calcium from you to lay down lots of bone. Continue taking your prenatal vitamins and drink milk to ensure that you receive enough calcium.

Mom, 35 weeks pregnant is the perfect time to start making practice runs to the hospital.

Baby:

At pregnancy week 34 your baby is gaining more fat to keep him or her safe and warm in the first weeks after delivery. His / her skin may be covered with some kind of waxy white colored protective substance that normally covers all newborn babies’ skin. Your baby's hair continues to get longer and thicker.

If your baby was born in this week, he / she would have 99% possibilities to survive, so do not worry. He / she may stay a little bit more at the hospital and not be able to go home with you immediately.

Your baby begins to develop its own immune system.

The length of your baby is around 34 cm (13.4 inches) and its weight is about 2600-2750 grams (5.7-6 pounds).

Dad:

At 35 weeks pregnant you have a big responsibility to keep your wife relaxed. What about to take lots of pictures of you wife, her womb, or a belly cast. Some husbands enjoy painting her belly. Keep her busy, happy and relaxed.
