What is Aviane?

Aviane birth control and all other contraceptive pills, operate as follows:

• They can prevent ovulation; this means that the ovaries may not release an egg. No matter if there are sperm or not, there will not be an egg to fertilize.
• If for some reason an egg is released, the sperm can fertilize it, but it will be impossible to adhere to the walls of the uterus, where the baby receives the necessary nutrients.
• Contraceptive pills also cause the cervical mucus to thicken, preventing sperm from moving easily. This thick mucus acts as a barrier and sperm can not fertilize an egg.

What is the difference between Aviane birth control, and other brands?

All contraceptive pills have the same objective: to prevent ovulation, thicken the cervical mucus and prevent a fertilized egg from attaching to the lining of the uterus.

Among other brands, there are: Alesse, Apri, Brevicon, Demulen, Desogen, Estrostep, Estrostep Fe, Genora, Jenest, Levlen, and many more, but your doctor is the one who has to choose the most appropriate pill for your health. Do not hesitate to consult your doctor.

In some countries Aviane may also be known as: Minerva Microfollin, Diane, Elleacnelle, Mikrofollin, Lynoral, Manodiol, Minulet, Estinyl, and Diva Total.

Aviane can be used for other reasons other than birth control, such as the prevention of acne. But do not use it for that reason without consulting your doctor; you may be allergic to this medication.

Is it safe to take Aviane for birth control?

Undesirable conditions:
Under any circumstances take Aviane if you have the following healthy conditions:

• High blood pressure
• Heart disease
• Liver disease
• Abnormal vaginal bleeding
• Asthma
• Seizure or epilepsy
• Breast, uterine and other hormone-related cancer
• Migraines

Sounds like you have to go with your doctor and perform a complete examination, or you have to know precisely all your medical history.

Aviane birth control pill is considered by the FDA (Food and Drug Administrator) as a category X drug, which means that if you are already pregnant and take Aviane, it could affect your baby with birth defects.

If you suspect or feel pregnancy first signs, stop taking Aviane and consult your doctor. Abstinence is always a safe method of birth control, but it is not a normal pattern of life. We all need to love and be loved.

Don’t smoke:
Avoid smoking when you take Aviane for birth control because it can cause heart attack.

Combination with other medications:
It is not recommended if you take any other medicine. If you are sick and you are taking a kind of drug, consult your doctor because it may cause unwanted effects or it may lose the effect of the pill.

How should I take Aviane birth control pill?

You must take the first pill on the first day of your period. My recommendation is that you take the pill at exactly the same time each day. I think by doing this, it is easier to remember taking the pill.

There are packages for 28 and 21 days. Remember that every 28 days you normally have your period. I recommend the package of 28 days because you will not stop taking the pill. If you buy the package of 21 days, remember that your period should arrive between day 22 and 28. You will have to continue with a new package on the 28 or 29 day at the latest.

What happen if I miss a pill?

When you miss a pill, immediately take two pills the next day and continue taking the pill until you finish with the package.

Some other brands recommend that if you miss a pill and has not elapsed more than 12 hours, you can take the pill you missed. If it is after 12 hours, skip that pill and wait to take the next pill at the same time as usual. But you should start using another method of birth control during the rest of the cycle, for example condoms, and continue taking the remaining pills regularly.

Aviane has some particular indications and you can take two pills if you forgot 1, 2 and even 3 pills. My sincere recommendation, forget it; I'm sure you do not want to take risks. One missed pill is enough. If you forgot to take more than one pill, you must start using another method of birth control till your next period.

Overdose:
Do not take an overdose because it can cause nausea, vomiting or even menstrual bleeding.
