Is it implantation bleeding or a period?

by Janelle
(Ontario,Canada)

Hello!

Ok so this month i knew when i was ovulating or at least the week of ovulating which was around.. June, 19th one of those days im not exact.. So i tried to have sex more then ever to get pregnant. i am not on birth control and of course we are unprotected during sex trying to concieve. I was on the birth control pill 3 months ago and while i was on it my period would only last 2 days and were light. Now i am off the pill and usually my Periods are 4 days long and are heavy and crampy. I had my last period last month on Fri,June 10 and it lasted till Mon,june13 it was heavy and crampy, but this month i thought im not suppose to get my period untill Next week but i got my period THIS week my first question is.... Am i suppose to have my period next week? or now? because if this is my period happening NOW it is difffernt from my normal periods. i was wondering if it was a early period or implantation bleeding. It started out i was watching tv Yesterday and i had terrible period cramps felt heavy, bkloated and lots of pressure on my stomach and pelvic area. Usually when i feel this i go to the bathroom and whipe and USUALLY there is a big flow of my period on the toilet paper but there was'nt.... it was light pink and not enough to wear a pad or tampon.. i thought well if this is my period this is weird usually it doesnt start off light like this.. so now i was confused if it is my period or implantation bleeding i feel crampy on and off a bit but most the time im crampy and its more crampy and bad on my right side which is the side i ovulated on. So as the day went on i peed every hour and half and would wipe at one point it started to get a littler bit heavier but not by much and then an hour or 2 later i whiped again and it was pinky brown and it was light again not heavy... now the next day i whipe its heavier but NOT as heavy as my usual period are usually my periods are so heavy i have to wipe 4 times so im dry but this isnt as heavy as them so im confused if its still implantion bleeding like i have to wear a pad but it seems im a little too heavy for it to be implantation but im not bleeding enough for it to be a "normal period" for me.

ANSWER:

Hello Janelle,

That´s lovely that you want to be pregnant, and I am sure you will.

You mentioned three things that I would like to comment:

1) You were expecting your period next week, that means from 11 to 15th of july and you got it last week. Actually you were not that far of your period day. My calculations seems that you can even start the 8th of July.

2) Is it Implantation or Period? As you may already know implantation is a process that may happen 6 to 12 days after ovulation, so that´s perfectly ok in time that you may have light spotting. During implantation the lining of the uterus is rich in blood and nutrients and a few drops of blood could move through the cervix and down the vagina. Implantation bleeding is considered a Pregnancy Symptom and small cramps can happend inside the uterus, so me may be PREGNANT.

3) And Last thing, if spotting is pinkish or brownish blood is perfectly normal when implantation, so there is another sigh of PREGNANCY.

And last thing, try immediatelly a pregnancy test because you may be already pregnant. You have all signs of pregnancy.
